After a Second Cup

Cloudy Sunday winter afternoon
Christmas has come and gone
Alone this single afternoon
After a second cup of green tea
Looking out the kitchen window
Watching cars pass the intersection
Thinking about the year gone by
Not really recalling anything
But just a year gone by
Almost a hundred poems written
Many journal pages filled
Spending many hours sitting
In front of  computer screen
Sometimes earning a living
Sometimes just fooling around
'Cause of boredom
Thousands of minutes
In long distance conversations
Through invisible sound waves
Flying through the air into space
Millions of seconds spent laughing
At something foolishly hilarious
That we humans do to ourselves
Correspondences read and written
Good news, bad news, all news
Hmm...

Untitled

he stood far
he looked from afar
he saw the war
the war between men
fought everyday
battles won, battles lost
but the war
not one man victorious

Light Buried

the light buried deep inside
flooded my heart
and washed the pain away

the sun sets his eyes on me
gave me warmth
and thawed the cold to life

my mother smiled at me
wiped out the tears
and reassured me who I was

my father hugged me
eased my worries
and told me I'll be alright

the bird sang to me
whispered hope
and I sang with him

a friend just called me last night
reminding me I was not forgotten
but loved and missed a whole lot

I looked at the mirror
smiled at myself
and remembered why I came

The Ominous Cloud

the ominous cloud comes
from down the mountains
in the valley it settles
all the animals scurry
in the meaningless haste
running everywhere
but not going anywhere
fear permeates the air
the cloud sits there
silently still, not moving
but the animals are not aware
its still stagnancy
that the sun will lift in time
