Sees Us As One

the sun has gone down
in the western sky
I said farewell to the day
I will lay on my bed tonight
dreaming happy tomorrows
I will arise in the morning
to the sun rising in the east
it is the same sun
never ever changing sun
that has rose and set
for millennia on this earth
which I've only lived on
for a blink of its eye
one day, I am born
next day, I am gone
the sun looks down upon us
from a far distance
and sees us as one...
as one child
one man, one woman
nothing more than one

The Etching

the etching was very deep
in the wall, it will not disappear
you can completely ignore it
so you can never be ashamed
you can just stare at it
but it will remain there
you can cover it up
tape won't stick long, glue won't last long
nails would rust and fall apart
paint will not remove the evidence
it is now history
the wound is there, let it heal
cry out your pain
the air will dissipate it
do not hold it back, let it out
it will sicken you, it will poison you
if you keep it in, all in there

The Seeds

the giant tree took root
deep into the ancient earth
it grew more than
a hundred feet above
the many branches spread
all around, hiding the sun
wind carried them to far distances
where they too would become giants
but many others perished
only falling underneath it
covered by the dark shadow
it lays down upon them
killing them slowly
rotting away closely
never seeing light
or the big open sky

The Tumbling Curtain

the curtain tumbled down
no stagehand ever drew it open
the heroine frighteningly stared
into an audience of nameless faces
she forgot her cue
and the other players stared at her
she had the first line
"the show must go on"
an actor whispered

she swallowed her fear
"this is New York City.
if I make it here,
I can make it anywhere.
thanks Mr. Sinatra."
the whole chorus sang
New York, New York
and the audience roared praises

the show played on
the curtain was removed
there was no need for it
not on that particular night
a standing ovation at the end
people gathered at the stage door
congratulated the crew

the tumbling curtain
became part of the production
this was the world to be
a transparent world
nothing to hide, nothing to fear
complete trust, vulnerability
is humanity's strength, weakness
this is what the audience saw
and believed it-- the cure
for all the world's ill
