Dead Ideologies

imprisoned by dead ideologies
sitting in ivory towers
where they attentively await
the dictates of the tyrant
so pale and lifeless, he is a corpse
his stiff mouth moves
in jerky unison
with the gnashing of his teeth
as his jaws open and close
they carefully follow
his rigid commands
illogical because they are old
it is a new century
the world is changing
the old tyrant is losing ground
they know this but deny it
they are a proud people
they take pride in their rigid formality
because of the prestige
that has now faded

The Bird Has Died

The bird has died
On the sidewalk, it lays
No one has pity for it
All they have is disgust
It is rotting in the sun
Ants crawl in and around it
Microscopic bacteria
Eating away its flesh
Many days will pass
Only bones will remain
No one will remember
Another life gone
Another casualty
Very insignificant event
In the world's orbit
Around a small star

Old Become New

The deed was undone
The knot was unraveled
The web was disconnected

The chain was shattered
The mirror was imploded
The knob is gone

The key broke in two
The anchor was released
The rudder was destroyed

The engine was trashed
Memories were deleted
The form was disassembled

The shape was reengineered
The structure was amended
The old become new

Finding Lie After Lie

My eyes are opened wide
They will never be shut closed
In a ready stance I am posed
Ready to go with the tide

There is no turning back
There is no escape hatch
Keeping my eyes on watch
My strength does not lack

The world overtakes itself
Matters are disarranged
Agendas have changed
I take on myself

It is now my day
It is today I will chase
The hand that trace
The line where my fate lay

The minute has arrived
I cannot change my mind
My decision I bind
I can no longer be bribed

The functions of my brain are sound
Nothing is detached
All the locks are on-latched
They weigh a thousand pound

Everyone will try
But they cannot sway my boat
I will remain afloat
Finding lie after lie

No longer am I deaf and blind
Aloud I will speak
In need, I will hold a stick
A champion they will find

I will climb the top
I will astound all
I hold the ball
I will not stop

Standing For Freedom

Today, I need to say this right now...

There are many things out there in the world that want to enslave us. Ideologies, addictions, idolatry, harlotry... I can name more but this is a generalization. I, as a free citizen of the world, stand against this right now.

Would you join me?

I hope everything I've been writing here is sending the message of freedom and not of enslavement to anything. I am not trying to brainwash anybody as the world is trying to do to all of us. Just look at the television commercials... It is just not the mind were battling over but also of the heart and soul. This is the REAL WAR...

As one of the songs in the great musical Les Miserable ask "Who would join us in our parade?" I love that musical. My first Broadway experience... I hope you will.

Persephone's Return

the heavens have opened up
an outpouring of light emerges
the dry savannah soaks in rain
rain that it waited for eons
the flowers rise and bloom
and look upon the sun above
to greet it with grateful smiles
birds, bees and butterflies
dance around each other
celebrating Persephone's return
in Demeter's bountiful garden

spring equinox has brought change
an alteration in Hades' plans
Persephone may spend half of the year
above ground, in her mother's company
to keep the wrath of Zeus, her father
away from his underground domain
Hades has no power over light
light penetrates into darkness
stars are born of dust
remains of ancient ones
that imploded within themselves
toward their tragic deaths
a rebirth, a renewal
comes into existence
every moment somewhere
even beyond distances we fathom

The Headless Man Returns

on the back of a stallion
the headless man galloped
back to the land he goes
the living hides in fear
the dead arise shrieking
from their ancient tombs
from the land of Hades
he comes in vengeful anger
from beyond the gates of hell

the old men shrink back
underneath women's skirts
their grandchildren are crying
their fathers hid in caves
their mothers threw themselves
over the cliff, into the sea
where Poseidon protects them

the headless man dashed through
the towns, woods and fields
haunting people's hearts
habitating their nightmares
spirits of dark fire
trail behind him
and kill and destroy
everything in their path
nothing is saved

The Plays of Centuries

The satin curtain draws close on this stage
Blanketed with pieces and fragments
Of the broken stage ceiling where
The burdensome weight of many centuries
Who slowly crawled down their graves
Fell through because underneath
Is the stage of the twenty-first century

If the twentieth century was a pie
I only had a bite of a small sliver
Because I was born at the end of it
But within the short span of those years
Those last so-decadent years of the world
Older generations once lived and loved so much
I have gained so much knowledge of things
That I cannot yet articulate
Into audible human mumblings

The new century is now at hand
It is only the beginning of the first act
The actors are setting up the beginning scene
They say their lines with uncertainty
Who knows if the director will alter something
Abruptly in the middle of a line
And the whole play is completely changed
Every minute is filled with anticipation
Objects instantly transform
Sequences of events are rearranged
Roles evolve and devolve
What an exciting play
This is becoming

Blistered Blood [Blood, Seed and Trees]

Blistered hands of mine
Dig through the ash
Hardened by blood and tears
The cake that the sun baked
Atop an already famished land
Stained by blood spilled
For assurance of survival

Seedlings were easily uprooted
By foreign forceful hands
Old trees die from drought
Or burn in far-slung fires
Or are buried alive
By boiling soil Earth vomited
In its adverse repulsion
To the pain we freely give

The blisters swell and erupt
My own blood trickles down
To nourish the new seeds
As they become little trees
That shelter the birds
Exhausted from a futile flight
To a place no longer existing
But in Hades' kingdom

Losing Something

The threat of loss
Treasures that might never be recovered
The shadow of dearth always trailing
Behind my every footstep

The ghost of failure
Haunt my dreams every night
The movie of my past loops and loops
Around my head never pausing

I look at my life's present episode
And find all I learned was a lie
That nothing is ever loss to the void
That everything is gained

Losing something
Is just misplacing it in the depths of darkness
You'll either recover it or someone else will
The universe recycles everything

Untitled

You gab very excitedly
Thinking you found a captive audience
In me
I stare straight into you
Figuring out how ridiculous this all is:
I thought you were a literary genius
Like Albert Einstein's a genius in physics...
No! You're a mediocre sophisticate
Delusionally believing that you are
Your writing lesson was tomfoolery...
That was the most stupid lecture
I have ever heard in my young life
You show me your Picasso article
What a confusing mess!
No order at all...
I can't believe that the Post printed it
They must have needed a space-filler
On that boring news day
What theme
First, you've got to learn
Some thought organization
Then, show me "theme"
Do you even know what "theme"
Really is in writing?
I have better writing teachers
Back where English is a foreign tongue
Now, I really understand why...
Why I don't really like writers for company
They're all big airheads
Thinking they're all geniuses
When only a few of them really are
Just because they can write
One good sentence after another

HIDDEN FROM THE LIVING

the blood has been spilled
on the ground it pours through
earth absorbs it essence

the slain is hidden from the living
they cannot see, they don't want to see
they are ashamed

the slain is crying out
when will he be avenged for
when the end of time comes

the murderer is all about
running near and far
with the world knowing his crime

Dawn Breaking Through

The terms have changed
The winds flip everything over
Structures are rearranged
Ominous clouds hover

But dawn is breaking through
Like a thread inside the eye of a needle
Like fusing bolt and screw
With netting in the middle

The steel safe is secure
Air cannot even escape
The lock held its tenure
No need for heavy-duty tape

Everything will unravel
The reality will be illuminated
Peeling off is the false label
Disaster is abated

No Longer a Circus

Perceptions have changed
Different reflections in the mirror now
I once look all deranged
Now I look like Diana with her bow

I take my target and aim
The fox I shot down
The wild cat I tame
In fear wildly flees the clown

The circus master is baffled
His bizarre family became average
Everything has been shuffled
In the mediocrity of this day and age

What is to become of this
It cannot only be normal
There is no longer any risk
In walking through a familiar portal

What is to become of he
He no longer has a circus to master
His former self can no longer be
The fiery passion he can no longer muster

I flee with the wild cat
And set it free in the jungle
On the sand, I lay myself flat
The chains can no longer strangle

I now live in liberty
On the ocean, I set sail
The beach sand in the wind is gritty
A journey I take, I cannot fail

The Rightful Heir Marches

The heavens open up
The mouth of Hades is shut
Angels come down Jacob's ladder

The iron gates break open
The tyrant is brought down
Up from his ivory tower in shame

The fortress walls are smashed
His soldiers flee in haste
Evading the wrath of mightier men

The rightful heir marches in victory
The tyrant kneels down in surrender
But his life is spared in mercy

He is given a choice
Either to run in exile
Or remain to serve
